Tell us more...

Darshan the handsome lad in the picture above who was a hard working student and with a bright future, is said to have committed suicide. Do you all think he would have committed suicide or is there more to his death. If you believe he did not do it, we want to hear from you in this blog.

Why we need you

Darshan Sathian was a 16 year old student from RMC. It takes no fool to realize that in order to get into RMC one needs to be intelligent, active in sports and both physically fit and mentally strong.

The question then depicts - does someone who is mentally strong take his own life?

The answer to that would be a no brainer! The mentally strong do not take their own life. they fight till the very end. So when someone comes and says that a 16 year old who has so much potential, aspiration, hopes, dreams and the drive to succeed, took his life, you start to question what you were told.

Do yo believe everything you are told or do you seek to find the truth and uncover the mystery behind what is told to you to have been a suicide? Nothing in life is as simple as it seems so how is this any different?

Will the family and friends of Darshan ever find out what really happened to the cheerful young boy who lost his life and the closure they need?

What would we do had this happened to ones near and dear to us? Would we not feel the need to find out the truth, get answers to our questions and bring those responsible to justice more so that others do not suffer the same fate?

For those with any kind of information in relation to this - however small it may be, come forward and make the difference. Be the change you want to see in others. Justice must not only be done, it must be seen to be done.

  4. It is hard to believe a strapping young lad such as this would resort to suicide. Pleas-lah, authorities, don;t give us some unbelievable story, just cover up something sninster. Give us the whole truth, for the sake of everybody concerened.

  6. What happened is a mystery. If the real cause was known it would bring peace and acceptence to the family and lo ed ones. RMC has a moral and public responsibklity to let the facts be known.

  8. Where is the justice behind this!!! We had sleepless nights when they are infants, guide them on their first steps, shower limitless love only to have all their dreams flushed down the drains. Schools are foundations where one's dreams & ambitions are build on, however this high achievers dreams was short lived. What is the point of putting all the efforts to make into such schools only to be left in the dark with no apparent answers & just BLANT REMARK by the authorities. As parent my self am ashamed with our schools & justice system. Where is this country heading to..........

  12. To all you have written on the blog, thanks to all of you. I did not want to comment as anything to do with my son Darshan, my tears keep flowing and I cannot control my emotions. But I want to share something with all of you , as the smallest information is very important as we want justice for Darshan.
For example with regards to Darshan's hand phone, when we ask the staff and police about Darshan's hand phone, no body knew anything about it. But I was informed by the investigating officer from Mindef, when he interrogated the students at RMC. One of them informed that, Darshan had given him the phone 3 days ( not sure on 27th or 28th July) before the incident. He had kept it in his pocket and later soaked the pants for washing. Later he had said the phone had spoiled and he throw away the phone.
But Darshan had called us on the 28th and 29th July. Please explain to me how the phone which was spoiled (including sim card) can be used to call us.
Secondly the officer had ask me if I am aware of some marks on his for arm. As he had said one of students had said about there were some marks whether it is bruises or not we are not aware. We are waiting for the forensic report on this.
So all we want to know what happen to Darshan. Some of the boys which were Darshan dom mates, I spoke to when asked the Question of " Do you think Darshan would have taken his own life". The answer was NO. So what happen to him, all you RMC guys, please if you have the any ( it may the bits and pieces) information please share with us. Hope to hear from you soon. JUSTICE FOR DARSHAN.

RMC neglected my nephew Darshan...tats wat i feel. Our 16 yr old boy whom went there with full of dreams and hopes...everything shattered. RMC packed all of his dreams n hopes in a red box with him n his belongings. Tats wat they give us in a short period of between 5 to 6 months...16 years he was with us, he was a darling and a strong will powered child. Wat happened! when he was in RMC???? RMC is supposed to mould the younger generation to be stronger, well disciplined and face the world without fear... Am i not right? Where were the securities, cctv or ny kind of protection for the BOYS... As v know, fights can happen, smoking, scandals, drugs ny kind of little Juvenal crimes can happen in boys school. My question is wat security or safety or protection are given to our child in this schools.. U mean no1 was ther when tis incident happened..."Fear of Punishment"..Who feared him n how did he know ther is such a punishment???? Why parents are not called n informed abt indiscipline or this act.... Come on for god's sake, he is only a 16 year old child...Wud not yr child do mistakes!!!!...We hv to guide them isn't it... In Darshan's case it is so minor n i'm very sure it wud be proven not guilty.. Can v get back my sister's baby...Day n night im seeing her tears...its very painful......Mentally n physically we have spoken n prepared him to join RMC military. He is from well civilized and educated family background. We have showered him with love. (Metal beams) did ny1 take photographs, videos, cctv.... ny ny kind of evidence wher we can accept his death??? No answers to all of this questions. His time of death also was falsified. Can u believe it? Wat v r going true...but i hope the truth w reveal itself. Media n publishers definitely made a mistake for publishing an innocent childs act but they hv also alerted many oth cases which occurred in RMC to the public... My Darshan's incident has definitely awaken many parents out there. Not only my sister's tears but ny child in this case its plain heart ache to the parents. Its a life...dont let another life be taken away...pls give justice to my Darshan... His lost is the biggest lost to the FAMILY, COMMUNITY and NATION. Tq.

  16. One of the most discouraging news I've been concerned with over the past few months, was the passing of my cousin, Darshan.

Justice For Darshan, just the right way to start something which ended with a confusion not only to immediate members but also to all those who were affected by it. Till date, family members are still longing to know what happened to Darshan, a young lad who has a promising future ahead of him. The answer given, was that he commited suicide which i think is fallacious!

I believe that unquestioningly, we all long for ourselves to be treated fairly with dignity and respect for who we are and I believe Darshan would want to be treated with the exact same way as well. Eventhough, he's no longer around, we are representing him in Seeking Justice, for only God knows what happened on that very day he passed away.

Losing someone like Darshan, is like losing a priceless blessing. No one can imagine the kind of grief Darshan's family is going through. Be it a big information or a small one, Im sure it will still make a difference. Im definitely doing my bit in Seeking Justice for Darshan, and I hope all those who knows a little something will play their part as well. Tq!

I longing for one more hug and to hear your voice again calling me 'D'. Darshan where ever you are, we will always love my dear. You have left us in so much of pain. There is not day which has past without you thoughts coming to my mind. I see your face the first thing in the morning and thru the day and last thing before I sleep. Every day when your thoughts come to me, my tears just flows. Only GOD know how much I miss you, Darshan. I will always love my dear Darshan my son. Why you left so suddenly, why Darshan. Sometimes I wish why god did not take me, you were so young and with so much of dreams and ambition. Where ever you are Darshan I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU till my last breath.

  23. Dear parents of Darshansathian
I don't know where to start. I too am a parent of a child his age. I cry with you for all the evil that destroys good people like him. I cry with you. There is no difference between one child and another. All are precious in God's sight. I did not read his case in the papers. I missed it. I don't know what he is supposed to have done . After reading the blog it seems he did something wrong? How dare they speak in his absence when he cannot defend himself? How dare they hush it up calling it a suicide, making him out to be some troubled person. It is bad enough that his parents are in such pain but now som e quarters are adding salt to their wound.
If what I read in the blog is correct ie he called his parents on his phone but some kid says he gave the phone to him and he washed it in the laundry.... What rubbish! Who will give their handphone away for no reason? Please ask the mobile service provider to give details of any number or SMS sent by him. They will have the records even if the sim or phone is spoilt. They did it in Altantuya's case. They can do it here.

My gut feeling is he did not commit suicide. And I would like to raise this issue- if he actually committed suicide, someone must have bullied or traumatized him so much that he temporarily did not know what he was doing.. So the person or persons who made him do it
areMURDERERS. Happy and well adjusted kids don't give up just like that.
I will pray that justice be done. An innocent life has been lost.

Dear parents, no one can take your grief away. But I pray God will wipe away your tears and give you rest from your grief
    God bless

He was always ready to lend a helping hand, he loved being in RMC and had high hopes for his future. He was an amazing participant and he bonded very well with all of the Johor Student Leaders, we felt like he was apart of us. You are deeply missed, Darshan.

  27. Rmc should select the best from the best to become rmc students. The selected best students wont commit suicide, they wont succumb in life at rmc, they wont even complain about their life at rmc. Okay maybe a bit complain, but they still will continue their life and face the challenges. Maybe the selection process of rmc students should be scrutinized again so they would pick the best of the best; the hardcore man who is a man. And they should also reform any systems that are already not contemporary.

  28. stop blaming rmc for what had happened. the comandant, staff and even the senior had tried their best to keep the junior safe. even heavy punishment had been stopped since their batch joined the college. only light punishment to keep them dicipline. the night before darshan death, i chit chat with him when we on our way back to our dorm. he looks normal. no sign of what he going to do next. i am aslo shock because darshan was like a friend of me although im a senior oh his..

  30. I am an Old Putra from RMC, I spend my 4 long years there. Selected ones are the cream. RMC train us to be mentally, physically, and intellectually strong. One should not blame the system that had been running even before the independence of Malaya. Blame the bad apples that has caused the death. Kids nowadays are not mentally prepared. RMC gives the best to their putras to guide them, serve to lead. The selection of putras should be hand pick and scrutinized properly. However, my deepest condolences to the boy's family. It is a great lost.

    1. Maybe its not the system..as u say its the bad apples..however, maybe in this case its not the students. U can ask every one of the people that knew this kid. Strong to the core, heart of gold and the will of fire. He had the pyschological strength to face anything. He loved the school so do you think that all of this, 15 years of hardwill can be broken overnight?

To loose a child is the most distressing for any parent but not knowing the reason is much worse.

To the parents and family of Darshan, my heartfelt condolence to this lost.

No amount of words can ease the pain, but its my sincere prayers that justice is done to the person who had in anyway involved to this incident.
May his soul rest in peace and all of you find peace and strength to carry on with your life. May God Bless all of you.

  32. So, the ACCUSATION against RMC is based on:
    1)a lost mobile phone/sim card
    2)marks on his arm
    3)timing of Utusan Malaysia report

And there also ACCUSATIONS that IF Darshan was driven to suicide, those who drove him are murderers.

So, RMC received some ACCUSATIONS. As we are in the mood to ACCUSE, allow me to make things more colourful:
    1) RMC is a tough place. It's physical, it's psychological, it's tiring, it's demanding. That's the formula in creating leaders. It's like a factory.
As much as the formula is prone to flaws, I'd like to suggest that the candidates is flawed, perhaps he seems OK on the outside, but inside, cracks like an egg shell. (if you can ACCUSE flaw in the institution, why can't I ACCUSE flaw in the candidate?)

    2) And if the candidate had so much problems, where was the family? Why didn't he get in touch with them and tell them his problems?

I APOLOGIZES for making these insensitive comments during your time of despair, but I make NO APOLOGIES for trying to discredit your unfounded accusations made against an institution that brought me up!

    1. Thank you for your comments, Just to start with it is one (1) year since my son has left us. Till to date (31/07/2013), I have yet to receive the postmortem report. The police and Hospital is making a go around.
Secondly, the police had informed me the body had been brought down by the Putera's thinking he is still alive.
But when Mindef senior officers did the investigation. I was informed the Putera did not do anything, they did was informed the staff (army personal) and they brought down the body before the police came. WHY ???. They are trained personnel's who should not have tampered with evident. And also please do read a comment from his senior, who was with him the night before he died, he had cit cat and he seems he was normal. He spoke to us and discuss for his trip back for Hari Raya Holidays. We also spoke to his tuition teacher, who was with him on 29th July 2012 (2.30 pm to 4.30 pm), He had said he was normal and talked about doing better in Ad maths as he desire was to be a chemical engineer. Sir been an OP, if these was the circumstances if your love was, what would be your thoughts.
ACCUSATIONS stem from inconsistent reports from the authorities of what happen that fateful day...perhaps you can explain what happened to my son in the institution that brought you up...Darshan's Father

    2. We share your immense grief and sorrow and I know that words alone won't heal your pain but it is only words and prayers that we can offer. I am incensed by the Old Putra's comments for his blatant and unreasonable defence of the RMC.The RMC is but a shadow of its old self. I think it was Darshan's misfortune that led him there. Way back in 1975 when I was already in Form Four, I received an offer to attend a week's interview at the RMC in Sungei Besi. I clearly remember that one of the seniors making a remark that if our parents could afford a tertiary education (I presume an overseas tertiary education),then it was advisable not to join the college. Fortunately,I did not have to make a decision because I was diagnosed as colour blind. The only one among my schoolmates who was selected returned after a month's stay there. Later at university, I was hardly impressed by the quality of the leadership shown by some of the Old Putras.

RMC is certainly not spared from the rot that has set in, in many of our government institutions. Why didn't the authorities alert the parents if the child had problems? Shouldn't the young lad be counselled? Any experienced teacher worth his salt would be able to notice a child with problems and I am saying this from first hand experience. There is no way that a 16 year old could mask his troubles in such a way that it goes unnoticed forever!

It is plain callousness on the part of RMC. And look at the way they have chosen to deal with the parents quest for an explanation; choosing to sweep everything under the carpet! How can the RMC claim to groom elite leadership for the country when they themselves are devoid of noble leadership. Leadership also demands that one owns up to mistakes and find ways to rectify it.Expose the wrong doers and get them to own up to their mistakes. Moving forward, Mr Sathian, my suggestion would be to meet your local assemblyman or MP and get him to take up the issue, if necessary with the media as well, on your predicament in getting the post mortem report. The post mortem report is the first step before you can begin to unravel the mystery behind Darshan's demise. I hope that I have been of some assistance here.

  33. Be strong ..time heals everything. I had a cousin bro who died sometime back mysteriously one night after outing with his friends. He was found dead the next day morning in a drain outside someones house 400 meters away from his home. C.O.D = blunt trauma to chest caused internal bleeding to his cardiac which is consistent with the injury caused by hitting one's chest against the drain wall and physical evidence where found he was bleeding through his nose when they retrieved his body.According to P.M.R there were no other physical injuries. But how did he ended up in the drain? Did he fell himself or somebody pushed him that night? What was he doing there at that time? None of his acquaintance staying there. The friends told they dropped him at his house entrance that night at about 1:00a.m. and this was consistent with his father's statement where he heard him opening the front door grill at about that time. Then why did he went out of his house after that and ended up dead? Mystery!! The owner of the house where he was found dead told they didn't hear anything except for some dogs were barking which was normal. They first found his leg jolting up the drain the next morning 7:00a.m when they about to leave the house and when came closer they saw his body lying with face down in the drain. He was 19 then and the only son to his parents , brilliant boy and graduated.Even till today the mother(my aunt) will shed tears whenever she sees his cousins who were used to be with him then. But God is so loving gave her(my aunt) back what she had lost(her son) in the form of a grandson to whom his sister gave birth to recently. My advance sincere apology if the above story have offended you in any way.Take good and extra care of your other kids. Some times we have to P.U.S.H Pray Until Something Happens.

I pray for his soul to be RIP and for the family members to remain calm and strong and keep loving him in close. RMC being one of the prominent school for Arm Forces in Malaysia now has spoil and sluggishly managed its reputation. I hope justice will reveal the truth and the sinner to suffer in near future - karma will haunt...

My heart really goes out to the family and there is really no words that will console but TIME to heal and PRAYERs for the living and the departed soul that there is always PEACE.
Here, freed from pain, secure from misery, lies
A child, the darling of his parents' eyes:
A gentler lamb n'er sported on the plain,
A fairer flower will never bloom again:
    Few were the days allotted to his breath;
Now let him sleep in peace his night of death

  36. Dear PUTRAS AND EX PUTRAS from Rmc who has commented on this blog of my son Putra Darshan. All the while I kept in silent till I wrote the memoraim and read the feedback on this blog. First of all thank you very much. I am Yasoda Putra Darshan mother. He is my eldest boy. I am working In a Hospital for the past 25 years. Being in the medical field, I knew communications is very important. My son calls me alternate days. I spoke to my son on 29th July 2012 at 0815 till 0845hrs. Not even a slightest changes in his voice he is in distress. At 0800hrs 30th July 2013 the Komando call me to ask for his father. That VOICE WHO CALLED ME WAS IN DISTRESS. IS STILL RINGING IN MY EARS.

I am not blaming RMC at all. What I want is why this child of mind was neglected in RMC if he has a problem. If he had discipline problem WHY ONE PHONE CALL TO ME AND SAY COME NOW TAKE YOUR CHILD FROM RMC. I would have gone immediately. THE PRINCIPLE OF THE SCHOOL ? YOur student having a issue what should you have done . BUT HERE YOU SENT HIS BODY IN A RED BOX TO ME. THE NEXT DAY THERE IS A LETTER FROM RMC SAYING PLEASE COME OVER AND DISCUSS ISSUE ON PUTRA DARSHAN. For what after he is gone. When the Darshan dad approach you the princicple say I dont know anything please ask higher authority.

Dear Putras by blaming RMC I am not going to get my son back. But I feel so sad that there is not even one soul IN RMC who did not help my son for a issue which till now I am in darkness. My son was trained by a ex RMC Putra who is a teacher in his previous school in order to get into this school. Till today he say YA ALLAH AND TEARING.

I want Justice for my Putra Darshan for not getting proper COUNSELLING,GUIDANCE AND SAFETY in RMC.
I kept him for 16 years in my arms and 5 months i released to RMC this is what I get. If he is in trouble why why why no counselling or CALL THE PARENTS!!! Whatever mistake or indispline there is a proper way. He is still a child mentally and physically.

Dear Ex Putra and Putras who know my son whom has a name over there "SADUK" while 5 months there. SADUK is strong. So my son PUTRA DARSHAN IS A STRONG YOUNG MAN .

Well now he is gods child, but I must get justice for him. The komando who manage my sons well being there in RMC has been transfered out immediately. I have one wish is to communicate with him , as a mother I would like to hear from him personnaly what has exactly happen. If he is reading this blog my email is y_dhr@yahoo.com.sg.Hope the ex kommando will enlighten me as it is very very painful still.

THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL THE PUTRAS WHO HAS COMMENTED ON THIS BLOG AND ALSO TO ALL WHO IS SEEKING JUSTICE FOR PUTRA DARSHAN. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

  38. I just came across abt Darshan's death in the obituary. Its so sad to see a young boy who has a long way to go passing away suddenly. How come this news was not published in the media?Mr Sathian the only way to get some clue and justice for Darshan is to get the post mortem report soonest. I cant imagine what the family is going thru at this moment of time. Where ever you are Darshan please rest in peace. Hope there will be justice for your death....

I am Jeno, an uncle of Darshan. He left us so suddenly without saying goodbye. For the past one year I have seen my brother and sister in law suffering every day and night trying to move on.

I read with interest the comments by family, friends and well wishers. There were also some who in trying to defend RMC were insensitive to the feelings of the boy's family members. It's always easy to comment when you are not in the same shoes.

I remeber Darshan as a quiet boy, smiling even in adversity and very ambitious. There arises the question, if he did actually take his own life, why would he throw away all the good things ahead of him ? There are many unanswered questions that we as family would like to know so that there can be a closure to all this.

I wish that the auhtorities will assist in providing all the evidence and especially the post mortem report so that we can live on with fond memories of this wonderful boy.

My family and I pray for his soul to rest in peace.

  42. I am a discipline teacher in a secondary school for the past 13 years. Any disciplinary case of students, the school should be inform the parents immediately. The school also must inform the parents about the action taken and the punishment given. While the school is also have responsibility of the students safety. In this case the RMC is wholly responsible of Darshan’s safety. I just did not understand why the family never take any legal actions against the responsible party.

  48. Darshan was a great son, brother, cousin, friend and an alrounded guy. He was also a great person to talk to when you have a problem and don't know what to do. Even if he did not know how to solve it he would at least be there to listen to what ever problems you have and always kept it as a secret. If i could go back in time to change anything in the world i would stop darshan from doing what he did. I am sorry for your lost.

    1. Thank you. Darshans mum here. i did not open the blog for the year 2014. Just cant read all the negative comments some have commented. Is all because the negligent of the school, teacher ,headmaster, warden and the COMMANDO. Only five months i let my son be there. If only one of them call me ???? . One phone call form the headmaster or the commando. My son Darshan will be with me in this 2015 . Really sad.

  49. I am a senior of darshan, i am really sorry for your lost. Physical abuse in rmc is a norm not only by seniors but by military officers and teachers as well.. and it's still happening in rmc even by teachers such as Fakhrul Razi who strangled someone who is sleeping last year because of suspected smoking. I hope one day that rmc can be reform to the right path.. Physical abuse is soemthing that should be stopped..
